Description
Donald Spoto racconta che nel febbraio del 1928 Walter Mycroft irruppe nell'ufficio di Hitchcock dicendo che lo champagne piaceva a tutti, anche naturalmente al regista, e dunque si sarebbe potuto farci un film.
A Mycroft interessava soprattutto che la sceneggiatura valorizzasse il ruolo della protagonista femminile per lanciare un'attrice brillante della British International Pictures, Betty Balfour.
La prima a Londra si ebbe il 9 agosto 1928.
Truffaut trova che nel film ci sono molte gag che ricordano le scene di commedia dei film di Griffith.
